Tampa, Florida, United States

I am Senior Vice President for Preventive Services and Global Crisis Management at Citigroup. Prior to this position, I was a Middle East specialist and KC-130 pilot in the Marine Corps. You can see my resume at LinkedIn.

My first book, Iraq in Transition: The Legacy of Dictatorship and the Prospects for Democracy was published by Potomac Books in 2009. My second book, War, Welfare, and Democracy: Rethinking America's Quest for the End of History, released in January 2013, discusses American foreign policy since World War II and how it must adapt to significant changes in our world today. In particular, I am interested in the rise of emerging economies, the socio-economic issues that modernization poses there, and the challenges faced by the leading democracies and their welfare state model.

My articles have been published in the Marine Corps Gazette and the security studies journals Survival and Strategic Insights. I have advanced professional proficiency in Arabic and understand multiple dialects. I have lived in the Middle East and have traveled extensively.
